Posts tagged Filipino Fridays

Hi, again! We hope you had fun with the two previous ReaderCon Filipino Friday posts. And we hope the fun includes both the writing of the posts and the getting to know other readers better.
For this week’s Filipino Friday, we want to know how you feel about being a reader in the Philippines.
How hard or easy is it to be a book lover in the Philippines? What are some of your frustrations as a Filipino reader (e.g., availability of books)? And what are the positive aspects of being a reader based in the Philippines?
Once you post your answers in your blogs or websites, don’t forget to sign up with Mister Linky below. Again, please link to your Filipino Friday post, and not to your blog url. This makes it easier for people to find your posts if they decide to check it again long after Filipino Friday.:)

Oh, and 19 days to the ReaderCon! We hope to see all of you there, physically or virtually!:)

Hi, all! It’s the second week of our ReaderCon Filipino Friday. First of all, thanks to everyone who participated in last week’s Filipino Friday topic. If you haven’t yet and you still want to, you still can! We put the topic up on Fridays, however you can respond to it any day of the week.
So, this week’s topic is…
Your Reader’s Story
How did you become a reader? What factors influenced you to take it up as a hobby? For instance, was it your mom who read to you every night? Or was it a high school friend who started lending you books? Or maybe it was a really inspiring teacher whom you wanted to emulate. Whatever it was, we hope you tell us all the story of how you became a leisure reader and what it is about reading that you enjoy so much.
Same drill as last time. Once you respond to the post on your blogs or wherever, please sign up with Mister Linky below and link to your Filipino Friday response post.
Just a reminder to everyone: please link to your Filipino Friday post specifically, and not just to your blog’s home page. Another reminder to those who use Tumblr as their blogging platform: we won’t be able to comment on your posts unless you install Disqus. However, if you’re ok with that, we can then you don’t have to install it. We can always like or reblog it.
All right then. Have a happy Filipino Friday! We’re looking forward to reading everyone’s stories this week.:)

Hi, all! Here’s the first Filipino Friday meme leading up to the ReaderCon. Anyone can join the meme, especially those who can’t make it physically to the ReaderCon.
Post your answer to the meme anywhere: your own blogs, your social networking sites, etc. And once you put up your post, please sign-up on the Mister Linky below so that others can read your posts, too.
Introduce Yourself
This being the first topic, let’s all get to know each other better. Tell us what kind of reader you are. What are your favorite genres and books? Who are your favorite authors? Do you have a comfort read? And what’s the best book you’ve read so far this year? You can also include links of where other readers can find you online, such as your book social networking sites, etc.
Just a reminder to everyone: when you sign-up with Mr. Linky, please link to your Filipino Friday response post. It’ll be fun finding out your answer to these questions. Thanks!

We’re borrowing Filipino Fridays from the Filipino Book Bloggers and turning it into a weekly meme in the weeks leading up to the ReaderCon. Every Friday, a topic will be posted and all Filipino readers are encouraged to make their own post about that topic. Anyone can join as long as your post can be viewed by everyone else - you can post it on Tumblr, Blogspot, Wordpress or any other social networking site - just make it a public post. A widget will be included in each Filipino Friday post to round up all the links so we can all browse and comment on all the meme posts.
We’re listing the topics in advance so those who want to join will have time to prepare their posts. The Filipino Friday posts will go up on the dates listed below but feel free to write your own posts whenever you can. We don’t want to pressure you with deadlines. We are also requesting that you use any of the ReaderCon web badges in your post (although it’s not a requirement). Last but not the least, we hope you have fun with the meme! :)
The topics are:
August 12 - Introduction. Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a Filipino reader. You can talk about the genres that you read, your favorite authors, your comfort reads and your best books of 2011. You can also include links of where other readers can find you online: blog, Twitter, Goodreads, Shelfari, etc.
August 19 - How did you become a reader? What factors influenced you to take up reading as a hobby and why do you enjoy it so much?
August 26 - How hard or easy is it to be a book lover in the Philippines? What are some of your frustrations as a Filipino reader (e.g. availability of books)? What are positive aspects of being a reader based in the Philippines (e.g. book prices are lower here than they are abroad)?
September 2 - Do you read Filipino literature? If yes, what are some books by Filipino authors that you can recommend to fellow readers?
September 9 - What do you hope will happen in the Filipino ReaderCon? What are you expecting from the event?
So that’s it, folks. Comments, questions? Let us know through Twitter.
